Mary Ocher does not consider herself a proponent of outsider art. Others may, but she does not. But mainstream she ain’t. Born in Russia, she moved to Israel at age five, where she attended an art high school although she left earlier than others thought she should have. Instead she started bands and did weird music. This led her to moving to Berlin, where there’s a whole hell of a lot of people making weird music.

Few of them, however, are anywhere near as active as Mary Ocher. Under her own steam she has toured the USA, made films, made albums, done crowdfunding campaigns, left bands, worked alone, started bands, toured some more, and has played for writers and plays.

With her new(ish) band Your Government their second album Eden was listed on Intro’s Album of the Year Award 2013 at No. 12. Her brand new album is out NOW on Klangbad.

As you are no doubt aware, indieberlin has recently launched its very own radio station, indieberlin radio, initially on soundcloud, but now moving across to Youtube. Our first radio show on Youtube with hostess Susann Kirkuss is an interview with Mary Ocher.
