This one’s especially for the artists, designers, musicians and culturally active among us…
You don’t need me to list here how the current virus lockdown is wrecking the artist/performing economy…since most musicians, artists, fashion designers and the like work freelance, up on the high wire without a safety net, the lockdown is hitting us hard…
So this seems the perfect time to introduce indieBerlin/indieRepublik’s indieCred system
indieBerlin (currently pivoting slowly towards rebranding as indieRepublik, but that’s a story for another day) is a blog and blog network (and since the last year or two we’ve been doing booking and running events, as well as running marketing campaigns for bands and brands); there’s always stuff that needs to be done, and to be honest more than we can handle…
At the same time we represent a great resource for artists to publicise and promote themselves. We’re also in the (admittedly very gradual) process of launching an online shop to sell merch – of our own but also from bands; clothes from independent fashion designers; plus CDs, vinyl, books and more.
There’s not much cash floating about though, and that’s why we came up with indieCreds:
…A currency you can both earn and spend within the confines of the indieRepublik. Although we do plenty of stuff for free, we also offer various paid options – like reviews, banner ads on our site, the above-mentioned marketing campaigns, and so on.
Now you can pay for those services with indieCreds.
Fine, you say, but how do we earn the indieCreds?
Glad you asked, I reply. It’s like this:
We’ll set you up with a login on the site. Once you’re signed in you can earn indieCreds in various amounts for things like writing/publishing articles, commenting on other articles, writing reviews, posting our content to social media, and watching videos.
Your account is automatically credited with the relevant amount of indieCreds – and you can spend your indieCreds on our various offerings; as well as what we hope will be a growing range of services and products that we can offer.
Don’t need any of our services right now? Either save up the indieCreds or else use them to pay for those services for an artist you know.
That way we get the help we need to keep our site humming along; you get to use our services without having to stump up your hard-earned cash; and you can use your lockdown downtime more constructively.
We’re running this as a beta program for the next 8 weeks to see how it all works; we might tweak things here and there to make it work for everyone best.
Interested in trying it out? Write to me at noel (at) indieberlin.de and let’s go from there.
And how many creds do you get paid for which task – and how many indieCreds do our various services cost? Check the Google Doc.
