Django Django bringing some new tunes to Festsaal Kreuzberg on March 17th

by | indieBerlin

Django Django are back on tour with their third album, Marble Skies, freshly released on January 26th, and already garnering it’s fair share of praise.

The UK-based art rock band was formed in 2009 after the quartet met at Edinburgh College of Art and subsequently put out their self-titled debut which became a smash-hit of sorts and earned them a nomination for the 2012 Mercury Prize.

Their sound has frequently been described as “genre-bending” and “undefinable”, infused with musical inspiration as wide-ranging as Psych-rock, Rockabilly, Krautrock and 90’s alternative.

Marble Skies returns to a winning blend of Psych-rock and synth-fueled tunes

After receiving mixed reviews on their second album, Born Under Saturn, from 2015, it would seem that Django Django are very much back on track with this new release, providing the best their eclectic sound has to offer. Marble Skies returns to a winning blend of Psych-rock and synth-fueled tunes (as seen on their catchy singles “Tic Tac Toe” and “In Your Beat”), taking us back to the height of late-aught indie dance music (in a good way).

The album was named after the striking sky-scape of an oncoming storm they witnessed over Lollapalooza

The band has said they are feeling particularly confident about this batch of songs which they co-wrote focusing on the dreamy imagery conveyed by the title. The album was named after the striking sky-scape of an oncoming storm they witnessed over Lollapalooza in Chicago.

Django Django will be playing at Festsaal Kreuzberg on the European leg of their tour Saturday, March 17th, and it’s already set to be a sold-out show, so grab your tickets ASAP!
