by | indieBerlin

Making music since middle school in New York, 20-year-old Gus Dapperton is adding flair to the indie music scene, talented in producing, vocals, dancing and has a fondness of the colour yellow, his synthy smooth tunes are something not to be missed next Monday!
Coming onto the scene officially in 2015, after having produced for local rappers and winning songwriting competitions, Gus Dapperton, otherwise known as Brenden Rice, is multi-talented in playing guitar and keyboard, as well as incorporate his earthy and soft vocals into songs he writes himself.

“The biggest inspiration is film and cinema. That’s how I write with the visual in mind and turn that into stories have never been told in a way no one has ever heard.”

He released his first single Moodna, Once with Grace back in 2016, followed by EP release Yellow and Such in 2017, and his latest EP this year and the basis of his European tour, You Think You’re a Comic! In which one of his tracks Prune, You Talk Funny became viral on YouTube.

With a visionary mind, Dapperton claims that his songwriting techniques come from film: “The biggest inspiration is film and cinema. That’s how I write with the visual in mind and turn that into stories have never been told in a way no one has ever heard.” Not only inspired by the visual, but his own aesthetic is becoming notorious with his bowl cut and 80s style yellow-framed glasses.
