Night of the Nihilist: Mexican Radio come to 8mm Bar on 22nd August

by | indieBerlin

Partial to the occasional synth-punk tinged evening? Sparky psychedlic outfit Mexican Radio will be gracing 8mm Bar with their presence this Thursday to launch their fiery latest single, Night of the Nihilist.

With inspiration drawn from Turgenev’s Fathers and Sons and the Russian nihilist movement, Night of the Nihilist is a punchy yet intelligent track, showcasing the trio’s totally unique sound. Taken from their second full-length album Deconstruction / Reconstruction (which will drop on 20th September: mark your calendars), it’s an eyebrow-raising concoction of dreamy instrumentation and sharp and perceptive lyrics, indicative of the striking individuality of this curious band.

Considering they’re quickly becoming staples of the Berliner underground scene, it’s clear to see the nods to local techno aficionados in this track. Mexican Radio’s hedonistic approach to music is obvious, but there’s a hint of club influence to be found here, and it’s definitely hit the right note with us.

The band have stated that Night of the Nihilist is about “rejecting everything, wreaking righteous havoc, and still managing to have a good time in the process,” – so if that sounds like your cup of tea, you’ll be in for something of a treat this week.

Doors are at nine, so polish up your dancing shoes and head down to 8mm this Thursday for a night of revelry and snazzy uniforms.
