Pure Filth from The Graves – debut album says it all…#relentlessglampunkrock

by | indieBerlin

We first came across Leo and his band The Graves at Basement Bash last year…in between a few other bands who were good enough, suddenly this green-haired madman just exploded across the stage, and there was Leo…
He captivated the audience, he captivated the night, he captivated generally. Leo is really one of life’s great frontmen, born for the job…off stage he’s a nice quiet(ish) English chap with manners, but put him on a stage and that’s it, he’s off (his head haha). In fact we did a photo feature on the last The Graves gig in our indieBerlin summer edition digital magazine, follow the link to check it out…

This is something of a bittersweet moment…the release party tonight will also be the final concert with this line-up as singer Leo moves back to the UK, where he intends to continue under the same name…and I’m sure we’ll manage to get Leo in whatever form back over for the odd gig or two…
full pelt, balls-to-the-wall punky glam rock, high high energy all the way through
Since that first concert we’ve seen Leo perform with his band The Graves a few times and every time is better than the last. The Graves do dirty punk glam rock, and they do it with a real sense of…well, pure filth. The debut album stands them well – it’s full pelt, balls-to-the-wall punky glam rock, high high energy all the way through, I guarantee you no one is going to get bored on this one…
it’s cheesy and sometimes awkward and usually there’s cringy dancing involved
When asked in an indieBerlin interview a while back what film genre their music would be they said “Rom-com easily. Because it’s cheesy and sometimes awkward and usually there’s cringy dancing involved.”

The world needs more of just this kind of filth.

Release party tonight – Facebook Event!

And in case you’re wondering, the name is an MC5 B-side.
