Blues is wisely uneducated. A plain english parable that explains the complexity of human emotions told by hands of prophets like Son House.

Blues is the big bang which generated worlds like ragtime, jazz, bluegrass, rhythm and blues, rock and roll, funk, heavy metal, hip-hop, country music and pop. The Marcus King Band tells its story in the original language when performing.

His first time in studio was when he was eleven years old

A third generation guitar player decided to make a band. It took him a while given his first time in studio was when he was eleven years old with his fatherโ€™s band. Although Marcus has played for as long as he can remember, The Marcus king Band has only three full length productions. By listening to the first three songs of the first album you can already hear the legacy carried by his interpretation.

Led zeppelin riffs with Janice Joplinโ€™s vocals (one of his biggest influences) mix in his style, the one has been alive since his great grand father used to fiddle(play traditional folk styles of music taught โ€œby earโ€ mostly with a violin.).

From swamps to beaches, from desserts to mountains the band takes you to every landscape found in the state he was born into: South Carolina. The land of James brown and John Birks โ€œDizzyโ€ Gillespie.

Born in the Blue Ridge mountains the guitarrist/songwriter defines itself (not very proudly) as a musician poucher. Stealing members of other bands is the natural way of finding playing partners. The horns, a trombone and a sax, complete the groovy rock quartet.

The Marcus King Band is a six-limbed being waiting for a play button to be pressed and start expressing long known feelings by the human kind in colorful sound waves.

His way of playing the guitar shows a unique technique developed more by the why and what than by the how. โ€œI never use my pinky fingerโ€ Marcus says laughing in an interview when talking about his left hand. โ€œMy dad always got on to me when he was teaching me when I was younger ’cause I always did like mostly downstrokes. I never really saw what the problem was. I guess I havenโ€™t got much better at it.โ€ he delivers the message with his southern charm.
