INDIEFILM PREVIEW: OSCAR NOMINATED SHORT FILMS

Mobile Kino, an organizBOOGALOO_AND_GRAHAM_stillation in Berlin that organizes officially sanctioned, fully legal public film screenings in mostly non-cinema spaces in Berlin, is presenting the 2015 Oscar nominated shorts this weekend at the gallery space at Urban Spree.

Ten films will be featured – five live-action and five animation – and it’s a good international mix. Films from China, Israel, The Netherlands, Switzerland, the UK, the U.S. and Canada, telling of cases of mistaken identity, boys raising baby chicks, a photographer taking pictures of Tibetan nomads, a female Afghan teenager encountering a female punk her age, a helpline operator with a phone call from a mystery man, vinyl singles that take you back through your own life, one man’s love life as seen through the eyes of his best friend and dog, a seven-year-old girl asking her parents if she and her sisters can have a bicycle, caring for an elderly parent, and last, but not least, a young pig with an important job.

Oscar Nominated Shorts – live action shorts at 9 p.m. on Saturday, February 21 and 6 p.m. on Sunday, February 22, animation shorts at 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 22 at Urban Spree, Revaler Str. 99 (corner of Warschauer Str. and Revaler Str.), Berlin-Friedrichshain.
